About Me

While I can’t say for certain when I began my love of writing, I can say that my desire for expressing myself in creative ways has been there almost since birth. As a child growing up in Wallingford, Connecticut, I was identified early on as having special abilities in art, and was placed into the town’s Talented and Gifted program (T.A.G.) Yearly, I had work selected for display at the town’s annual art show at the Paul Mellon Arts Center on the campus of Choate Rosemary Hall. In both middle school and high school, I was selected for the school yearbook committee, and had work published in each school’s respective creative literary magazines. My first journalistic piece was printed in our town’s regional paper, the Record Journal, my senior year of high school, featuring a story on Wallingford’s 30th anniversary Powder Puff game. That same year, I earned a scholarship from the paper, as well as Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, and received awards from the Connecticut Association of Schools for Outstanding Achievement in the Visual Arts, and the University of Rochester for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts and Humanities.

I received a Dean’s scholarship to attend Emmanuel College in Boston, where I received a B.A. in English Communications and minored in Studio Art. During my time there, I participated in the Admissions Ambassador program, served as the Media Board chairperson, and was on the Yearbook committee, where I was Editor in Chief two years running, and helped produce the first full color book in the history of the school. In 2005, I participated in the Pearson Publishing international convention in Boston as part of a specially selected student panel. Upon graduating, I received an award for Excellence at Emmanuel.

I spent my first few working years at small, academic textbook publishing companies in the Boston area, including A K Peters, Baseline Development Group, and Cheng & Tsui Company. While working full time as a production editor or coordinator at these companies, I also pursued freelance writing on the side. These projects included being the main content generator for 80108 Media’s Steals and Deals channel, writing and editing the Boston page for TheDateVine.com, and writing for Hollywood East Connection.com. Since leaving my last in-office position, I have pursued freelance writing on a full-time basis. I now regularly contribute to the South End News, Hollywood East Connection.com, and other print and online publications. I also moonlight as a tour guide for Boston Chocolate Tours. Additionally, I’ve done a variety of writing, editing, marketing, social media, and PR projects for MyTV New England, Harvard Business Publishing, Shecky’s Media, Boston2Night.com, Loopt, Red Plate Marketing, and Party Earth.com. In the spring of 2011, I was selected to be part of a panel at Emmanuel College for English Communications majors to discuss different career paths.

My time in Boston has lead me on many adventures. I’ve interviewed celebrities like Val Kilmer, Paris Hilton, Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham, Mario Lopez, author Dennis Lehane, and celebrity chef Todd English. My connections in Hollywood East have allowed me to appear as an extra in movies like What’s Your Number, Here Comes the Boom, That’s My Boy, and TED, as well as the “All Our Love” music video for Brighton-based band, Gentlemen Hall. I’ve attended championship parades for all four major sports teams in the area, gotten to ice skate on Fenway Park, and had my photo taken at events for Boston area magazines. As a fashion lover, I’ve won prizes as part of the Smiling Stiletto shoe club, and walked the runway at Boston Fashion Week. I love the city of Boston with a passion and fervor that is all-consuming. I am always excited and anxious to explore the city and take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities it offers.
